OCC Background Check Day 4-6

Hello everybody! How was your weekend? I spent Saturday trying to catch up on homework for Online Card Class Background Check. This card is a combination from Days 4, 5 & 6.

This is one of the most CAS cards I've ever made, although it was a little bit of work. Kristina Werner showed how she embossed a background and then colored it with Distress Inks. I decided to try the same thing but with a different embossing folder. With the embossing, the card showed a cupcake in the bottom right-hand corner and dots all the way around the card. Trying my Smooch inks for the first time, I barely touched each dot with blue, then outlined the cupcake in red, blue and gold Smooch colors before adding a touch of gold Stickles. After layering onto blue cardstock, I stamped the Happy and die cut the Birthday. I then added some blue bling for the final touch.

I'm not real happy with this card, but it's okay considering all the steps it took. I will continue to look for an embossing folder with flowers that might work better.

Thanks for stopping by today! I appreciate your visits and comments very much, and I hope to see you again real soon.

  1. Well done! I've always been to scared to try this technique but you've inspired me to try it out, maybe this weekend. I know your not happy with it (we are our worst critic) but I think it looks fantastic. And yay you for trying such a CAS design. Its funny because I make a lot of CAS cards and my husband can never work out why they take so long to do. It seems the less you have on a card, the harder the decisions are as to what to put on it. Looks like you enjoyed the class and look forward to seeing other techniques in future cards.
