Holiday Card Workshop 2014 Day 3

Hi everybody! How are you today? I'm slowly coming back down to earth after the fantastic game with Duke over the weekend. Thought it was about time I got back to homework from Holiday Card Workshop 2014!

Day 3 showed us examples of using watercolors with our stamps. I used Kristina Werner's example of attaching stamps along the edge, top and bottom of the stamp press and then stamping in VersaMark ink. You follow that with heat embossing in white, then adding Watercolors. The images will stand out after the paints are applied.

Instead of adding watercolors, I added Distress Inks in shades of blue. The inside has a layer of white cardstock with snowflakes stamped on it. I like how this turned out, but would probably do better on another try. I simply ran out of time because I was preparing for my trip at the same time I was creating this card. Ever do that? Have too many things going on at once to focus on any one project?

The images and sentiment are from a mix of stamps from Gina K Design and Stephanie Barnard's Stamps of Life. There's also another stamp set I used but it has no name on it.

I appreciate your visits and comments very, very much, and I hope to see you again real soon!

  1. Oh, how fun. I'm all about watercolor - LOVE the way it looks. It has a mind of it's own, for sure. Your card is awesome, love all the images you have chosen. And yes, that white embossing just makes the whole card pop!!

  2. It certainly doesn't look like you were in a rush, the blending is so well done and I love the blue shades you used. I always have a dozen things on the go at once, its a wonder my head hasn't exploded. Its probably why I leave my card making till everyone else is in bed, so there are no demands of me while I'm trying to concentrate. I think this looks fantastic and I must try it with Distress Inks myself!
