Holiday Style Online Card Class Day 1

Hello everybody! It's time for a new Online Card Class! This one is called Holiday Style, and it's full of Christmas card ideas.

For homework from Day 1, I chose to create a card based on a video lesson by Laurie Willison. The card is scored every half inch until the bottom third of the cardstock. That is sponged with TH Fired Brick ink and heat embossed with an image and sentiment.

I used products from Gina K Design for this card. The stamp set is called Peace and Joy and is illustrated by Theresa Momber, one of my special friends at GKD. You can barely see the scoring on this card, but it's there. I think it looks a little bare on the middle an top, but I'll admit, the card is growing on me.

Thank you for stopping by today. I appreciate your comments and visits very much, and I hope to see you again real soon ~ there will be more homework to post, so stay tuned!

  1. This is a beautiful Clean And Simple card! Love the red and sparkly silver. I can see your score lines--yay--no glasses (yet) lol

  2. Hi, Sharon. Love this card which I also made. Wasn't it quick and easy to create?

I had trouble, though, staying in the line when I was embossing the cardstock. Did you have trouble as well? If so, do you have any advice?

Also, could you please tell me where to find the badge that you have at the top of the page?

    1. Do you mean you had trouble when you were sponging? I used a piece of tape to mask it. That way if I hit it, the ink would only go on the tape and not on the card. I found the badge on the Gallery Page. Good luck!

    2. If it was the actual embossing you had trouble with, I did, too. One card I made before this had crooked lines on it!

  3. Pretty card! I like the idea of scoring it down the entire front, masking and adding color at the bottom.

  4. What a fun class!!! Your card is so cool. LOVE that beautiful red color, and white embossing over the sponging is genius! Well done!

  7. Hi Sharon! I came in at Day Five and enjoyed reviewing each day's homework back to the beginning. All of your CCs are so pretty! I'm not taking this one because I haven't watched the last one sitting in my inbox (I don't mean a missing day, I mean I've yet to do ANY of it!) so I love seeing your homework and learning from your tips. I have to say that this first day's card is my favorite! I think it is stunning!! Hugs, Darnell
